Asakusa Kimono and Yukata Day Rental: Senso-ji Route and 6 PM Return Guide

A practical first-timer’s guide to dressing, walking and returning a kimono in Asakusa

Asakusa Kimono and Yukata Day Rental: Senso-ji Route and 6 PM Return Guide

The short answer: an easy first kimono day in Asakusa

HANAKA is at Dwell Asakusa IV 4F, 2-3-7 Kaminarimon, roughly 30 seconds on foot from Asakusa Station on the Ginza or Toei Asakusa Line. That matters: you avoid a long walk with luggage before dressing and have a simple return route.

What the plan includes

The plan includes a kimono or yukata, dressing, basic hair arrangement and ornament where applicable, a standard bag, tabi socks and footwear, plus storage for ordinary luggage. Formal Japanese hair upgrades, men’s hakama, paid accessories and garment upgrades are separate. Yukata is offered from June through September. A specific design is subject to stock, and an upgraded choice may cost extra.

A practical half-day route

Start with Kaminarimon and the quieter side lanes before entering Nakamise. Visit Senso-ji without blocking worshippers or foot traffic, then leave by Nitenmon and continue to Sumida Park for open river views. Kimono shortens your stride, so add 20–30% to normal walking times and plan a seated break.

Before booking

  • Choose a package matching the actual number of guests.
  • Enter each child’s age and height.
  • Women over 170 cm should confirm garment length and stock.
  • Keep passports, cash and valuables with you.

Return timing and clothing

The store is listed as open 9:30–18:30 with irregular closing days, and rentals must be returned to the same store by 18:00. Aim to return around 17:00 rather than squeezing dinner into the rental window. Wear a light, low-neck base layer in cool weather; in summer, prioritize hydration. Confirm current availability, total price and start time on the booking screen and confirmation message.

How to read the price

The current single-adult option starts at JPY 3,800. Packages for two to ten guests are total package prices, so the card’s lowest price is not every group’s final total. A child option is separate, and garment or hair upgrades can change checkout pricing.

What to carry

Keep only a phone, transit card, small cash and handkerchief in the small bag. Ordinary luggage can be stored, but passports and valuables should stay with you. At lunch, keep sleeves away from sauces and avoid leaning hard against the obi.
