Arriving in Tokyo in the morning when hotel check-in is hours away? Solve the suitcase problem before your first sightseeing stop. Think of luggage storage in Tokyo as station lockers, staffed counters, hotel storage and a separate delivery option. LOCARORA currently has no Tokyo luggage storage or delivery booking product. This is a preparation guide using official information so you can check services directly.
Quick answer
For bags you need again today, compare storage near your return route. For bags needed at the next hotel, compare delivery. Storage means collecting your bag again; delivery means sending it elsewhere, with different timing and charges. Start with when and where you will need it next.
| Option | When it helps and what to check |
|---|---|
| Coin locker | Returning to the same station; dimensions, space and access hours |
| Staffed counter | Large bags or service questions; accepted items and closing time |
| Hotel storage | Before check-in or after checkout; guest policy and reception hours |
| Hotel delivery | Receiving at another hotel; eligible address, arrival day and cutoff |
Tokyo Station, Shinjuku or Shibuya: plan the collection trip
Choose by your final sightseeing stop and the journey back, not just a famous station name. Record whether the locker or counter is inside the ticket gates and which exit or basement area it uses. Not every station exit has an available large locker. Check current station or operator information for locations and availability.
Check suitcase dimensions and the charging period
Measure including wheels and handles, and do not force a locker door shut. Check payment, calendar-day charges, maximum storage duration and building access. Keep your ID, cash, medication and any charger needed that day in a small bag. Retain the receipt or locker-opening instructions.

Match airport storage to your departure terminal
For Haneda or Narita storage, check your departure airport and terminal first. JAL ABC says collection is at the original counter and charges use calendar days including both drop-off and collection dates. Do not assume city collection or automatic transfer to another terminal. Lack of storage space may also prevent acceptance.
For hotel delivery, confirm the actual arrival day
Delivery timing varies by service; do not assume same-day arrival. Match the hotel’s full name, address, guest name and check-in date, and ask whether reception accepts the bag. A counter’s opening hours may differ from its shipping cutoff. Carry your first-day essentials separately and keep tracking information.

On departure day, reserve time to collect your bags
Work backwards from counter closing time and the airport journey before adding last-minute shopping. Allow time for collection, station transfers, travel and airline check-in. For only a few hours after checkout, the hotel or nearby storage may be simpler than sending luggage elsewhere. Confirm eligibility and prices with the actual operator.
Frequently asked questions
Can a large suitcase fit in a Tokyo coin locker?
Some large compartments can fit one, but their presence or availability is not guaranteed. Compare your bag’s outside dimensions with that locker’s specifications.
Is luggage storage the same as hotel delivery?
No. Storage requires a collection trip; delivery requires a destination and arrival time. A storage fee is not a hotel-delivery quote.
